Alpha Sport vs ACR Messina Women
The first leg has been called off. Alpha Sport withdrew from the tie, so the match scheduled for Sunday 4 October at the Celeste will not be played. ACR Messina Women now await the ruling of the sporting judge on the outcome of the tie.
The draw is in: ACR Messina Women will open their Coppa Italia campaign against Alpha Sport San Gregorio, over two legs in early October.
The Sicilian Regional Committee of the Lega Nazionale Dilettanti has confirmed the programme for this season's Women's Coppa Italia. Twelve clubs are taking part — the sides from the Eccellenza Femminile league, plus the Promozione teams that applied to enter.
Every first-round tie is played home and away. The Giallorosse will host the first leg at the Stadio Giovanni Celeste on Sunday 4 October at 18:30, before travelling to Alpha Sport's home ground, the Bonaiuto Somma in Mascalucia, for the return leg on Sunday 11 October at 15:00.
Two legs.
One place in the next round.
How the cup works
The team that scores more goals across the two matches goes through. If the aggregate score is level, the tie is decided by penalties at the end of the return leg. The six first-round winners are then split into two groups of three.
As a Promozione club, ACR Messina Women cannot progress to the national phase of the competition — even by winning the regional cup — but the Coppa Italia is a valuable chance to test the squad against Eccellenza opposition early in the season.
